Jacquilyn Olson
MA, Licensed Counselor Intern
Serving others and the community is a purpose I am grateful for. My role is to help you develop insight with compassion and structure. Together, we create a path that honors both your need for stability and your desire for growth.
I specialize in working with trauma, depression, OCD, anxiety, complex mental health needs, and the deeper psychological processes that shape how people relate to themselves, others, and the world around them. I help clients explore the stories they carry about themselves and understand how patterns that once served an important or protective purpose may now contribute to feeling stuck.
My theoretical orientation is grounded in person-centered and psychodynamic approaches to psychotherapy and guided by an interest in what it means to be human. Rather than viewing resistance as a problem to overcome, I approach it as protective and adaptive. Resistance can provide valuable information about the parts of ourselves that have learned to protect us from experiences that once felt overwhelming, painful, or unsafe. By approaching these patterns with curiosity rather than judgment, therapy can create opportunities for greater self-understanding and meaningful change.
Together, we will explore both your inner and outer worlds and develop a plan that addresses short-term concerns while remaining attentive to your longer-term goals. I provide a space to explore challenges, relationships, patterns, and ambitions while working toward greater balance and direction. This process can help transform shame and guilt into greater self-compassion and support the integration of aspects of yourself that may have been ignored, suppressed, or difficult to understand.
